Spring Grove

Dorothy L. Bowen Hodges Baer, age 81, of Stoverstown, died on January 5, 2019, her 81st Birthday, at Manor Care South in York. She was the wife of Harry E. Baer and the late David L. Hodges.

She was born on January 5, 1938 in Port Huron, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Charles Bowen and Leona (Brown) Bowen. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stoverstown PA. She was employed by Vanscoy Jewelers for 15 years.

She is survived by her sons; David L. “Butch” Hodges II and wife Susan and Charles S. “Chuck” Hodges and wife Candri; one grandson Steven C. Hodges; and one step-grandson Michael Bollinger and wife Amanda and her great grandsons Dew Hodges and Yutaka Matsumoto. She is also survived by one sister Helen Charles of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister Betty Sult and one brother Charles E. Bowen.

Following cremation, a memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 4767 Lehman Rd., Spring Grove, (Stoverstown) with Rev. Dr. Bradley Dayett officiating The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall. The interment will be held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Stoverstown, 4767 Lehman Rd. Spring Grove PA 17362.
